It is so important to start the year off right! Besides the fact that so many classes start the first day with the same-old, same-old reading of the syllabus, we want our students to be comfortable and expect active engagement in our classes.

  1. First of all I couldn't possibly agree more! Any teacher (and I really mean any) that starts off their day 1 reading the syllabus is missing a great opportunity to set the tone for the year in their classroom. Assuming that they don't want the tone to be one of passive reading and listening; if so, go for it. The real question is, what are you going to do on the first day to set that tone?
Secondly - your blogger profile pic is freaking me out!
